Plus, I'm so busy keeping up with e-mails with mother, and checking my facebook and myspace and xanga and all that. I constantly have lots to do online.
Ok, so let's see here- mom can probably give you plenty of info if you talk to her, because I e-mail her pretty much daily out here, but in general, I'm awesome. I don't know if you guys wanted more information than that. The food is astoundingly good, actually. Decent variety, but lots of flavor and nutrients. It's too bad I'm on the 10-meal/week plan. I deal with that by eating one meal per day for the first half of the week. One week, I ran out of meals on Friday at lunch, but the lady still let me eat lunch.
Classes are pretty good- I love my political science class. The professor is also my advisor, and I think he might be mormon... his wife is from a small potato farming community in Idaho and has 10 siblings. And he has lots of stories of traveling overseas- I wonder if one of them might be taken from his mission... and he tells pretty corny jokes at 8:30am. All of these things can indicate mormonism. Oh, and he has a master's in Japaneese from BYU, and rather proudly told me that BYU has one of the best language programs in the US. I mentioned that my older brother recently graduated from BYU with a degree in Computer Science. Anyway, he's an awesome guy and I'm really pleased that he's my advisor.
On that same note, I declared a major in political science, and I'm looking to declare my second major in either History or Philosophy. I'm also declared in the Pre-Law program, because I have so much flavor.
I took a practice LSAT the day after my birthday, and I was really, really tired (I literally had not slept that night, owing to great celebration, primarily in the form of movies). So tired, in fact, that I just flat out refused to read two of the passages on the reading comphrehension/analysis section. I just sat there and stared at the page after deciding I didn't want to read anything right then. I still scored pretty decently, actually. The logic problems section was quite difficult, though. I still owned the argument analysis section in a big way. I was pleased about that.
Let's see... what else have we got... um, my friends refer to my roomate at "Drunky", because he frequently dissapears for extended periods of time to go visit his friends at a fraternity and shows back up at 5 or 6am and just passes out in his bed, which I respect on multiple levels. But we get along ok, even though he gives me some degree of distain for the amount of sleeping I do. He asked me yesterday if I did crack, because only people who smoke crack sleep as much as I do. Apparently, it's not common in Kansas to sleep for 12-14 hours, or to nap in the afternoon for 7 or 8 hours, because everyone seems to find it really out of place that I do it. I don't have a whole lot else to do, though, so I don't feel bad about it. I strategically arranged for my classes to be close together just so I could go to class and then sleep extensively. Once again, I reiterate that I'm awesome.
Institute and Church meet in a little building just off campus that I can literally see from my window, just across the parking lot and the street. We actually only have a BRANCH here, which is something I thought didn't actually exist except in myth and/or theory. It's weird for church to be so small, but the people are really great.
Um, ok I think I pretty much covered everything. Blogspot doesn't make it as convient to check comments while making a post as other blogs do, unfortunately, so if you want more information e-mail me or post another comment, and I'll just respond with other comments on your guys' site, or somethin'.
I think there was something about substances, so, I'll just add that I get high all the time. For good measure.
Oh, and I play airsoft out here, which is LOADS of fun. It's game about shooting people- John, conduct some research on this matter and then speak to me concerning it. For behold, it is excellent to shoot other people on the weekend.

I'm in college now.
Why aren't you?

I really have too much to say to type; my hands would get sore. Suffice it to say that I've met many people, and they're awesome. My roomate is somewhat anti-social, but I have the magical power of being able to get along with nearly anyone, so we get along fine. I had a math recitation this morning, two of my lecture classes (polisci344 and intro to sociology), and my freshman seminar class (a fine arts credit where a small group of freshmen go out to plays, lectures, operas, etc. and then discuss them). I'll summarize my evaluation:
Math- Teacher has a cool accent. I think he's from Africa somewhere. Like South Africa or Kenya. Rather a dry, dry person, but seems to be a good teacher. Takes it slow, goes step-by-step. Class is approx. 30 people.
PoliSci- Teacher is not visiually appealing, but he studies terrorism, and that's cool. I like his style. Class has about 50 people.
Sociology- Teacher is well dressed and he has a bit of a lisp. TA's are cool. Class size is about 250-300. I wanted to shoot myself in the face. INCREDIBLY easy course laid out, and the teacher tried to elicit some sort of interaction or response from the students with a couple of questions: the room was dead. I ended up answering most of the stuff, because no one else would TALK, and there was just this silence. And they weren't hard questions. "Name two problems in the United States today." "..." and then some kid in the back of the room says "Immigration", and I'm like "ok, we're all dumb in one sense of the word or another in here, clearly". Then he took my answer, "poverty". After discussing immigration a little bit, he asked "ok, what's wrong with poverty?", and I laughed, because it was a funny thing to say. No one else laughed. I think I'm a bit ahead of the standard 18 year old humor curve, maybe. I didn't think it was that complex of a joke. Still, I don't think this class requires me to even exist in a coporeal form, really.
Freshman Seminar- Teacher is actually a dance teachers and constantly corrects herself after calling us all "dancers" ("Ok, danc- people, everyone take one of these and pass the stack around.") I wish she'd just call us dancers. That'd be cool. I'll ask her to do so next week. Class size is 15. There are 4 males. There are several partituclarly attractive girls. This course, effecively, requires me to go on dates with a dozen girls every week. I can work with that.

My room smells sort of funky right now. Last time this happened, it turned out it was because I left my running shoes in my room and left the door closed. I keep those in the garage now, so my current theory is that something died under the cluttered junk that mom thinks I need for college. I estimate I have some 25Kg of unnessecary material that mother has just put in my room. I don't understand it. She also compiled a rediculous first aid kit for me, which is more like a portable medicine cabinet. I wish she'd just spent all the extra money on Pens.

Meanwhile, I've realized that all of my other friends from high school are staying in state and will see each other on weekends and on sick days. Over the course of the school year, I have three breaks to come home for. I will never see this people again. Which is just as well, because I think they were plotting to kill me.

I also won't see them next summer, because I'll be in New York working for Aunt Toni. I'm hopeful that, over the months I'll be there, I'll figure out an excuse to go to the new London office. So far, all I've got is that I can go be a translator, because I speak the language. It might work. But I'll keep thinking, in case that plan fails for some reason...

Entry One- Test Material

This is just a post to test the blog, as well as something to work with if I fiddle with any of the advanced preferences, which I probably won't do tonight. I think the purpose of this blog will be for me to be able to keep in constant communication with my brother and his wife. If the rest of my family wants to keep in touch with them, they'll have to work something out. I wasn't thinking when I set everything up for this blog until 1/2 way through the process, and it's in my name, my e-mail, etc. So, now I have yet ANOTHER one of these things. It seems really extreneous.
